If you navigate to a Transfer page from the Change Log and that transfer happens to have been deleted, it's not at all obvious. There's just a "restore" button that implies this.

Some sort of badge to make it obvious and some record showing when the record was deleted, by whom, and any comment as to why they deleted would also be handy.

              Thanks,
              M.

The bank statements show "Matched" & "Uploaded" columns. When they differ Kashoo should offer some advice about what that means and what to do about it. I'm staring at a ~$1000 difference right now, and have completely forgotten what steps I should now take.

One trick I've recently worked out is to maintain a spreadsheet of the start/end/total debits/total credits balances of each of my bank/cc statements vs. the start/end/total debits/total credits balances in Kashoo. This serves multiple purposes and has turned the process of reconciling from something I dread to just "work to be done".

I thoroughly recommend that this be incorporated into Kashoo itself (they could be easily added to the "Bank Statement Reconciliation" screen), and, in the interim, users can build a view like this in Google Spreadsheets or Excel/Numbers.

And Matt Gorbet makes some good points too.

Re: It should be possible to change the statement date of an existing bank statement. If I change the date it seems to create a 2nd statement in the same month.

-- to change the date, type the new date and hit Remove. Kashoo will delete the old statement and create a new one for the new date. It's a bizarre UI but this works.

                Martin CleaverMartin Cleaver commented  ·

Any given statement not only has a date the Statement is received (Statement Date) but, more importantly, a Period comprised of Start and End date. Transactions for a given statement occur within that period, which - in my case for my Citi Staples Mastercard - is often after the End Date. So: Statement Date might be 1st May 2010, but the Start and End date are 1 April 2010-31 April 2010.

As Kashoo stands I have to go in to every month and adjust the first and last statement entries.

Also, you need the ability to search items on Bank Statements. Bizarrely an item can be matched to the wrong month, and then isn't flagged. You can't search those items on the change log because the change log shows transactions against the ledger, which the statements are separate to.

As Istvan says: "I simply did a manual check of all the statements until I ran across the transaction."

and "I have in the past thought that a link to the bank reconciliation that a transaction is reconciled in would be handy so I'll submit an enhancement request to have it added."

                Martin.

Also, you need the ability to navigate through a calendar of statements that belong to the same account. E.g. Next month, Previous month.

                Martin CleaverMartin Cleaver commented  ·

Also, on the Bank Statement Reconciliation Screen, where you list the Statement Date, Account, Currency, Comment, please add: Starting Balance / Closing Balance.

The Remove button needs making clear (e.g. Tooltip) that it removes the Statement and does not affect the Transactions from the ledger.

My bank provides statements with debits and credits in separate columns - it would be helpful to opt statements to be presented this way on a per account basis.

                " reconcile (clear) your accounts."

The following is my understanding. Perhaps you can include a variation of this text on the page?

Each Kashoo account is comprised of a log of Transactions and a set of Bank Statements. The Transactions affect the account balance. The Bank Statements are there to aid you reconcile your accounts.

This page helps you get your balance correct by:
                1) Compare your bank's copy of your Bank Statements with a version in Kashoo using the opening and closing balances and total deposited and withdrawn in a period
                2) Compare between Transactions and Statements and, in case you added entries into the account's ledger without a corresponding statement, fix up the Statement to match.

Looks like you've done significant work in this area. It's still a little confusing, and while I see you run seminars, how come you don't record them so I can watch them at 11pm on a Sunday night?! :) Thanks, though, this looks much better. The monthly totals of deposits and withdrawals and start/end balances helps tremendously. I just hope that filling in past year's statements won't screw my year end balances! Best, M.
